Indiana Post Offices to Close Early on December 24 and December 31

Some select Post Offices will remain open until 5:00 p.m. 12:00 Noon set as day’s final mail collection

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Most retail counters in Greater Indiana District Post Offices will close at 12:00 noon on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24 and New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31. Mail delivery for December 24 and December 31 is not affected by the change. The Greater Indiana District includes cities and towns with ZIP Codes 460-469, 472-475 and 478-479.

Final mail pick-up from most blue collection boxes will be at 12:00 noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve except at those offices open later. The following Greater Indiana District Post Offices will be open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve until 5:00 p.m.

Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office and commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit for December 24 and December 31 hours of operation. On New Year’s Eve, additional select larger post offices will remain open until 3:00 p.m.

All Post Offices will be closed Saturday, December 25 and Saturday, January 1. Express Mail (with paid holiday premium) will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in most major metro areas.

Regular mail delivery will resume on Monday, December 27, 2010 and Monday, January 3, 2011.
