INDIANAPOLIS, IN — In the wake of the tornadoes that devastated the Kokomo area last night, the Postal Service wants our customers to know that our Post Offices will be open, and we will be delivering mail in areas that are safe to do so.

“We want to assure our customers and our employees that their safety is foremost in these tragic circumstances,” said Greater Indiana District Manager Todd Hawkins. “Our carriers will deliver mail as usual to those areas not affected by the storms. For those customers whose homes have been damaged, you can come to your local Post Office to pick up your mail. Even if we don’t have power, all our retail units are open and we can accept checks and cash. We will also have staff in our lobbies to assist our customers,” he said.

“I also want to thank our dedicated employees, especially Postmaster Dennis Sweeney, who despite losing his own home to the storm, came to work to make sure we provided service to our customers, and also to the many other employees who worked through the night. Thank you all,” Hawkins said.
