GLEN PARK, IN — The Glen Park Post Office Station, located at 320 East 40th Avenue, Gary, Indiana is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, August 23. The Post Office building originally ceased operations in 2015 due to needed structural repairs.
“We’re excited to be opening our doors again to the community,” said Gary Postmaster Charlotte Jones.
“Retail services will be up and running and the Post Office box section will be fully operational.”
Post Office box services have been returned to the Glen Park Station. Existing customers are asked to visit the Post Office by September 29 to renew their PO Boxes if they would like the same box number. After that date, customers who do not renew will not be able to get their same box number if it has already been rented.
New customers can rent a Post Office box for increased convenience. Post Office boxes are as secure as mailboxes but provide more flexibility for mail pickup. The convenience of earlier mail delivery is helpful to small business owners. Post Office boxes provide home-based businesses with the ability to separate business and personal mail. The Glen Park Station offers Post Office boxes that are affordable, convenient and secure.
The retail hours for the Glen Park Station are:
Full-Service Retail Counter Hours
M-F: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
