Background:

Alan Cunningham served four years with the U.S. Marines before beginning his postal career in 1965 as a carrier in Wichita. He has been on the same delivery route for approximately 30 years now, and has no plans to retire any time soon. On July 19, he will be recognized for 55 years of dedicated federal service, four with the Marine Corps, and 51 with the Postal Service.

“Alan is a great employee, who always strives to deliver the best possible service to his customers,” said Manager Customers Services Kimberly Lange. “We are proud of his dedication, not only to the Postal Service, but for the four years he served our country as a Marine. Delivering the mail is no easy thing to do; it is physically demanding and subject at times to extreme weather conditions. As his fellow carriers can attest, he hasn’t lost a step and is a pleasure to be around. Always has a smile for everyone.”

Wichita Corporate Hills Station Carrier Jeff Doyle started working for the Postal Service in 1981, as a carrier in Wichita. On July 19 he will receive his Million Mile Club plaque and pin. The Million Mile Club award is presented to drivers who have driven one-million miles or 30 years of driving without being involved in a preventable motor vehicle accident.

“Our carriers deliver the mail in all kinds of weather and face daily hazards on their routes,” said Lange. “So for Jeff to have driven a million miles without a preventable accident is a tremendous achievement. He stands as a great example not only to our workforce, but to drivers everywhere.
