LOUISVILLE, KY – Residents in the Highview area of Louisville now have more choices when it comes to fulfilling their postal needs. And the city is rolling out the red carpet to celebrate the opening of a contract postal unit (CPU).
A grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house will be held at noon on Monday, June 7 at ValuMarket, 7519 Outer Loop. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.
The CPU will provide a full range of postal services at Post Office prices with the exception of money orders, according to Fern Creek Station Manager Dan Singleton. “The ValuMarket location is another way we’re extending our services and making it more convenient to do business with us,” said Singleton.
ValuMarket store manager Darrell Franklin and USPS Kentuckiana District Marketing Manager Alisa Zanetti will be joined by local dignitaries to dedicate the new facility. The ValuMarket and its employees are excited about partnering with the Postal Service. They are strategically located in a busy area of town.
The ValuMarket CPU will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. This location will also serve as a collection point for prepaid packages.
Singleton and his staff at the Fern Creek Post Office invite customers to attend the open house to learn more about the services offered at this new location.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
