Fairdale Post Office

FARIDALE, KY — The reopening of the Fairdale Post Office scheduled for next week will be delayed out of an abundance of caution, according to USPS officials.

The office, located at 411 Mount Holly Road, was closed on April 19 due to brown recluse spiders inside the building. Postal maintenance has decided to examine several outside openings to ensure the problem has been completely resolved.

A new opening date has not been determined at this time.

“We apologize for the inconvenience this situation has caused,” said acting Postmaster Mary Cardoza. “If any Post Office Box customer is having difficulty picking up their mail from the Hillview Post Office, we encourage them to contact us to make other arrangements. Please call (502) 367-7676.”

In the interim, retail services are available at these locations:

  • Hillview Post Office, 175 Tanyard Springs Blvd.
  • Okolona Post Office, 7400 Jefferson Blvd., Louisville KY
  • Brooks Post Office, 3025 Coral Ridge Road, Brooks KY
  • ValuMarket, 5301 Mitscher Ave., Louisville
  • Phelps Hardware, 5203 Elzie Lane, Louisville
  • Meijers, 9500 Preston Highway, Louisville

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
