New Orleans, LA – Louisiana Post Offices will be open for business and letter carriers will deliver mail throughout the state where roads are accessible, postal officials announced today.
Heavy rain and flooding have made 20 Post Offices inaccessible for mail delivery on Friday, but the Postal Service has designated alternate locations for customers to pick up their Social Security checks. The Robert, LA Post Office (70455) is now inaccessible, and Robert customers may receive their mail at the Hammond, LA Post Office. (70401)
“Even though we cannot make residential to these communities, we will make every effort to enable these customers to get their checks,” said Louisiana District Manager Bruno Tristan. “We understand how important it is to give these customers access to their funds right away.”
Here are the cities inaccessible for delivery and the alternate locations where checks will be available to residents who present government issued identification such as a driver’s license. Customers can come as early as 10 a.m. to pick up their mail at the alternate site.
