NEW ORLEANS, LA. — On Tuesday, February 28 retail services at the New Orleans and Metairie Post Offices will be closed temporarily due to the Mardi Gras celebration. The Main Post Office will deliver Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail and Amazon packages on Mardi Gras Day.

In addition, from Saturday, February 25th through Tuesday, February 28th, there will be no mail collected from mailboxes located in the French Quarter and Central Business areas along the parade route. Any other mail-collection-box-service will follow the posted holiday schedule.

Regular postal operations resume Wednesday, February March 1, 2017.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
