SAGAMORE BEACH, MA – The President of the United States signed Public Law 112-49 on November 7, 2011 to dedicate the Sagamore Beach, MA Post Office in honor of fallen Army Sergeant Matthew A. Pucino. Matthew was 34 years old and on his third tour of duty when he was killed in the line of duty.

Public Law 112-49 designates the facility of the United States Postal Service at 45 Meeting House Lane in Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts, as the "Army Sergeant Matthew A. Pucino Post Office.”

On Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., the formal dedication ceremony will stake place at the Post office located at 45 Meeting House Lane in Sagamore Beach.

The House of Representatives version of the bill, H.R. 2062, was sponsored by MA Congressman William Keating with the nine other MA Representatives as Co-Sponsors.

The Senate version of the bill was co-sponsored by Senator John Kerry and Senator Scott Brown.

Sergeant Pucino was a 1993 graduate of Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth, MA. After joining the Army in 2002 in response to the terrorist 9/11 attacks, he then became a member of Company B, 2nd battalion, 20th Special Forces group as an Intelligence Sergeant.

Matthew, a Green Beret, was killed on November 23, 2009 in while on routine combat patrol in Pasha Kala, Afghanistan, during his third tour of duty. His all-terrain vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. Sergeant Pucino was laid to rest with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.

The public is welcome to attend the dedication ceremony to honor the life and sacrifice of Army Sergeant Matthew A. Pucino.
