Law enforcement experts agree that shredding personal documents prior to recycling helps guard against identity theft. Local residents and businesses are invited to stop by to shred their unwanted documents. “We are thrilled to be able to offer our customers a way to discard unwanted documents safely and securely,” said Natick Postmaster Nancy Nigro. “This is an easy way for customers to go through their old files and discard what is not needed safely.” “Local residents can safely dispose of their unwanted personal documents and learn a lot about fraud prevention at our Shred Day event,” emphasizes U.S. Postal Inspector Bernadette Lundbohm. “Our goal is to educate consumers and raise awareness of how to combat fraud." The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is one of our country’s oldest federal law enforcement agencies. As the primary law enforcement arm of the United States Postal Service, the Inspection Service is a highly specialized, professional organization performing investigative and security functions essential to a stable and sound postal system. Postal Inspectors have a successful history of fighting criminals who attack our nation’s postal system and misuse it to defraud, endanger, or otherwise threaten the American public. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. |
