Manager Audrey Lakes talks with a customer about service concerns in Jamaica Plain

Jamaica Plain, MA — On Saturday, December 5, the Jamaica Plain Post Office held an open house. Manager Audrey Lakes and her staff were on hand to greet customers and answer any questions or concerns they had about delivery or window service at the Post Office.

The staff served up coffee, donuts and other snacks while the customers in this always busy office came in to buy some stamps, pick up their online purchases, mail a holiday package or get a passport application. Customers also received tickets for a fruit basket and gift card given as door prizes for the day.

“I think the feedback we received was excellent” said Lakes. “It provides us with the blueprint we need to make adjustments and better serve the needs of our customers.”

In addition to the full service retail lobby and a 24 hour Post Office Box lobby, the Jamaica Plain office also has a 24 hour automated kiosk where customers, using a credit or debit card, can conveniently perform most transactions while avoiding any lobby lines.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
