Brockton, MA — The Brockton Mail Processing Facility at 225 Liberty Street in Brockton will host a small-business educational event on international shipping and mailing on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The event is part of the White House’s Made in Rural America Export and Investment Initiative, which aims to bring together federal resources to help rural businesses access new customers and markets abroad and take advantage of international trade assistance.

The initiative includes other federal agencies and allows the U.S. Postal Service to bring its expertise in online tools, supplies and international shipping to help rural businesses reach new customers and markets abroad, while supporting economic growth and jobs in the United States.

Greater Boston Marketing Manager Jim Holland said, “We are excited to take part in the Made in Rural America initiative and look forward to showcasing Postal Service products and services. Shipping options such as International Express and Priority Mail — and global shipping as a whole — are a few components of our educational plan. We will also demonstrate online tools that make it easy to create shipping labels, pay for postage and even create customs forms.”

Throughout the summer, many Post Offices in rural areas will host similar workshops where customers can learn about small-business offerings designed to transform and grow business internationally. Attendees will also receive guidance from federal and local business counselors and international trade specialists. Small-business owners and entrepreneurs who would like to attend can register at www.usps.com/brockton

Through the Made in Rural America initiative, the Postal Service is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
