Background:

Nicolas began his postal career in 1985 as a City Letter Carrier in Boston, Mass. In the following years, he advanced his career throughout the United States Postal Service holding positions in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Maine. He initially began his management career path in 1990 when he was promoted to the position of Supervisor of Customer Service at the Back Bay Post Office in Boston. Since then, he has held numerous management positions throughout the Postal Service including, Manager of Kenmore Square, Manager of Lexington; Officer in Charge (OIC) in Burlington and Woburn, as well as Pawtucket RI. He also served as the Postmaster of Andover and Dedham. Nicolas held the position of Post Office Operations Manager in both Eastern and Central Massachusetts and was the Acting Senior Post Office Operations Manager in Northern New England serving Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. In addition to those assignments, he also acted as the Manager of Marketing for the Greater Boston District, all leading to his recent appointment of Postmaster Boston.

Prior to being appointed to the official position of Postmaster Boston, Nicolas temporarily covered the position for just over a year. As the Postmaster of Boston he will oversee 100 plus stations, branches, retail units, and carrier annexes, in the Boston, Massachusetts area of the Postal Service. These locations encompass the entirety of the 021, 022 and 024 zip codes with the exception of the City of Cambridge. This area is comprised of 47 cities and towns in the Boston area with a total population of over two million customers with approximately 708,000 delivery points. He will manage over 4000 employees throughout Boston.

Nicolas attended Northeast Institute and the Emmanuel College Advancement Program. Nicolas is a graduate of the Management Leadership Program (MLP) and Advanced Leadership Program (ALP), for the United States Postal Service. In addition to his education and management training, he is also Green Belt certified in lean six sigma for the United States Postal Service. Nicolas is the Postal Customer Council Co-chair for the Greater Boston District as well as board member on the Federal Executive Board of Boston.

Nicolas was born in Boston and resided in the North End section of Boston prior to relocating to Burlington, Mass. He is the proud son of Angela, and the late Nicola Francescucci of Burlington, MA. Nicolas currently resides in Burlington with his family and is the loving husband of wife Theresa and proud father of daughter Angelica, and son Nicholas.
