Everything’s coming up mail milestones in the lives of 10 employees at Marlborough Post Office where their 295 years serving the community weigh strong on performance.
For context, the Marlborough Post Office is only 218 years old, established in 1799.
A group of postal employees were recently heralded for having served every resident, every day for 25 to 35 years of their career. The Postal Service calls the recognition “Service Awards.” All of them added together this one time total 295 years.

Postmaster Nicholas Tselikis lauded the achievement of each before 65 peers and employees at 20 Florence St. by awarding letters and service pins congratulating them for their dedication.

That includes city and rural carriers Andre Laliberte, Charles Searles, Richard Bernard, John Boulay, Robert Lachapelle, Peter Ronayne and David Spinner. “Their true grit and perseverance can be seen in below zero weather or on 95 degree days,” says Tselikis. An average city route is 650 deliveries, about 10 miles; and rural routes are 700 deliveries, about 20 miles.

The clerks honored were Darrel Jackman and Kenneth Antonellis, who prepare mail and packages for the office’s 32 routes which reach 16,500 delivery points a day. “Their conistency at getting the job done should neither go unnoticed,” says the Postmaster.

Even though the Postal Service processes and delivers nearly half of the world’s mail — 47 percent — it receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
