Grand Opening of New Post Office in Frederick

Opening Ceremony Will Be Held On Tuesday, August 1

August 09, 2010

FREDERICK, MD — To increase convenience and access to postal services and products, residents in the Frederick area have more choices when it comes to fulfilling their postal needs.

A new Contract Postal Unit (CPU) opened at A-1 Services of Frederick, Patrick Street Shopping Center, 467 W. Patrick Street, Frederick, MD  21701.

A grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 17 at 11:00 a.m.

Customers can purchase stamps, mail letters and packages and purchase nearly all mailing services — including both domestic and international — at the same prices available at Post Offices.

“The CPU will provide a full range of postal service and products with the exception of money orders, says Frederick Postmaster James Jones. The A-1 Services’ location is another way we’re extending our services to our customers and making it more convenient to do business with us,” said Jones.

Hours of operation at the new retail postal location are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The community is invited to attend the Grand Opening ceremony. Light refreshments will be served.

For more information regarding CPU locations, please contact your local postmaster or CPU Coordinator Tammy Kenealy at 410-347-4616.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
