To help the Passport Fair application process go smoothly and efficiently, the Postal Service recommends the following:

  • Bring proper proof of American citizenship. This must be either a certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state; a previous U.S. passport; a certificate of citizenship; or a naturalization certificate. (Please note: a hospital-issued birth certificate alone is not acceptable.)
  • Total passport book fees for adults age 16 and over are $135 and $105 for children under age 16. A total passport card fee for adults age 16 and over is $55 and $40 for children under age 16.
  • Bring a photocopy of proof of identity. Each applicant must bring a photocopy of the front and back of the ID that will be presented at the time of passport acceptance.
  • The passport application requires recent color passport photograph of you (2” x 2” in size). The Post Office will offer passport photo service for $15.
  • All applicants must appear in person (including minors). Minors under the age of 14 must appear with both parents. If one parent is not available, a notarized authorization from the absent parent is required.

The U.S. Department of State provides detailed guidelines for preparing your passport application and supporting documents. You can fill out and print a passport application online or get one when you visit a designated Post Office to submit the application.

For information on passport forms, required supporting documents and passport fees visit www.travel.state.gov or contact the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778, TDD/TTY 1-888-874-7793.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
