MARYLAND — If you plan to travel outside the U.S. this spring or summer, the Postal Service is making it convenient to obtain a passport by hosting a one-day Passport Fair at several Post Offices this Saturday, March 25, 2017. No appointments are necessary.

The U.S. Department of State has detailed guidelines for preparing your passport application and supporting documents. To save time, you may fill out and print a passport application online in advance of the event by visiting the U.S. State Department website http://travel.state.gov. Please ensure that your application is completed in black ink and that you have the required U.S. citizenship documentation as well as identification and payment when you arrive for the fair.

Customers who cannot attend the fair but need a passport can schedule an alternative appointment at www.usps.com. Under the Find Locations tab, select Passports to locate a nearby USPS passport processing office. Call the office using the number provided to schedule an appointment.
To apply for a passport, travelers need to complete Passport Application Form DS-11 (unsigned) and provide one of the following: a U.S. birth certificate from the Department of Vital Statistics (not a certificate of birth) or naturalization papers. Applicants must also show either a valid driver’s license, a previous or current U.S. passport book or card, Certificate of Naturalization, Certificate of Citizenship, military I.D. or a federal, state or municipal government employee I.D. card. Applicants 15 & under must be present with both parents unless consent is given; ages 16 & 17 require only one parent be present. Bring a photocopy of your proof of identity. Each applicant must bring a front and back photocopy of the ID that will be presented at the time of passport acceptance. The passport application requires recent passport photograph of you (2” x 2” in size), which the Post Office Passport Office can provide for $15.
The cost for an adult passport book is $110 plus a $25 processing/acceptance fee; the adult passport card is $30 plus a $25 processing fee. Both are good for ten years. The cost for a minor’s passport book is $80 plus a $25 processing/acceptance fee; the minor passport card is $15 plus a $25 processing fee. Both are good for ten years. Customers wanting both the passport book and card are charged only one processing fee. Passport photo services are also available for $15. Payments are accepted via cash or check; Credit cards are acceptable for processing photo fees only.
