Portland carrier celebrates 40 years of safe driving

Portland — Driving around a city as busy as Portland every day can be a challenge.  Doing it daily for 40 years without an accident shows the commitment of a truly professional driver.

City carrier Paul Dimatteo is shown receiving his Expert Driver Award recently from Postal Operations Manager Lloyd Keast and Portland Postmaster Jim Thornton.

The Postal Service is proud of its safety record, and of carriers like Paul who demonstrate a commitment to safety.  We preach a strong emphasis on safe driving not only for the well-being of our employees but for the benefit of the communities we serve.  And while Paul’s record is exceptional, his focus on accident avoidance Is typical of today’s postal employees.

Given the amount of time a typical carrier spends on the road daily, we’re proud to have employees like Paul who make safety on the job a top priority.
