DETROIT, MI — To add additional alternative access to postal services, the United States Postal Service has partnered with the Castle Mobil gas station to open a Contract Postal Unit (CPU) within their facility. The Ford & Hix Castle Mobil Contract Station is located at 38353 Ford Rd, Westland MI 48185. Castle Mobil will be operating their CPU Monday thru Friday 5:00 am to Midnight and Saturday and Sunday 6:00am to midnight.
“This is a full service location with extended hours in the Westland area”, says Scott Braden, Retail Specialist for the U.S. Postal Service Detroit District. “The only services that this facility lacks than a regular post office are P.O. Boxes and the ability to handle C.O.D. transactions”.
To kick off the opening of this CPU, for today only, Thursday, December 2, the Mobil station is offering gas at $2.59 a gallon. Patron will also be offered free coffee, cappuccino, fountain drinks, popcorn and bags of ice.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
