Lansing MI - The Lansing area Post Offices will shorten retail lobby hours and close early on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24 and New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31st. Revised hours will also be posted at each Post Office. Mail delivery for those days is not affected by the change.
The last scheduled times mail deposited into blue collection boxes for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve is 12:00 noon. The Lansing Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit (BMAU) will be closed both December 24th and December 31st.
For information about holiday hours at Post Offices in other locations customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS.
All Post Offices will be closed Saturday, December 25th, and Saturday, January 1st in observance of Christmas and New Years Day. Post Offices will resume business hours on Monday, December 27th, 2010 and Monday, January 3rd, 2011
With few exceptions, only Express Mail will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in most major metro areas. During the week of Christmas, unexpected heavy volumes and unpredictable weather issues occasionally result in challenges with our ability to transport all Express Mail for timely overnight delivery. Express Mail postage refund restrictions will be in effect for the mailing dates of December 22-25, 2010.
Postage refunds will be paid only if service exceeds two delivery days. This refund eligibility adjustment policy continues to provide customers with a money-back guarantee, while modifying expectations in the event overnight service in any particular area of the country becomes unachievable. Our service commitment will not change, and every effort will continue to be made to deliver Express Mail the day it arrives at the delivery unit.
Contact your local Post Office or 1-800-ASK-USPS for additional information.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
