Mail Delivery Route Changes Announced

Grand Rapids area to adjust routes

September 01, 2011

Grand Rapids — Customers in the greater Grand Rapids mail delivery area may notice a change in the time of day their mail is delivered or they may begin to receive their mail from a different letter carrier. "This is the result of recent adjustments to delivery routes", says Chris Tinkham, Grand Rapids Postmaster

"From time to time we re-evaluate the workload on our delivery routes due to changes in mail volume and the amount of type of deliveries served" stated Tinkham. Changes in mail volume, improvements in systems used to process and deliver mail and new delivery points added in the community require periodic readjustment of delivery routes.

"Balancing the workload for all delivery routes and designing the most efficient routes possible also helps us reduce the number of vehicles needed, resulting in less fuel consumption. More efficient mail delivery helps maintain the lowest possible postage rates for all of our customers. These route changes will not impact the level of service for customers" Tinkham added.

"Our goal is to keep mail affordable and to provide excellent service to our customers. This is relevant for now and well into the future" says Tinkham.
