Grand Rapids — Gerstner Hardware, located at 6988 114th Ave, Glenn, MI 49416, makes history on November 16 as it becomes the latest Village Post Office (VPO), part of the Postal Service’s initiative to provide expanded access, during a ribbon cutting grand opening ceremony. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. The public is invited.
“This Village Post Office will provide the Glenn, Michigan community with convenient access to our most popular products and services,” said Nancy Rettinhouse, the Postal Services District Manager for Greater Michigan. Glenn will retain the ZIP Code 49416.
“Local residents are elated to see this happening in their community,” said store owners Robert and Vicki Amberg. “We are excited to be able to provide Postal services and products and be part of the Postal Service’s non-brick-and-mortar service network,” they said.
Village Post Offices are operated by local businesses and offer popular postal products and services such as stamps and flat-rate packaging. They are the response to the changing mailing needs of the American public as more and more customers demand easier, more convenient access to Postal products and services.
Post Office Operations Manager Greg Chanski will officiate, and remarks will be made by the township supervisor and the store owners.
