DETROIT, MI — The United States Postal Service will be relocating retail services currently provided at the Wyandotte Post Office located at 166 Oak Street to the old Sears building located at 3099 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI. In accordance with 39 C.F.R. 241.4, this is the final decision of the Postal Service.
The Postal Service discussed the proposal at an October 19, 2015, public meeting. The Postal Service has carefully considered all of the concerns expressed in those discussions, as well as in appeals and comments received after the public meeting.
Additionally, the Postal Service plans to continue services at the existing Post Office until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office.
While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Wyandotte community, the Postal Service properly considered community input and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives. To be self-sustaining, the Postal Service must make decisions that ensure it provides adequate and affordable postal services in a manner that is as efficient and economical as possible.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
