Management and Budget Office of Support Services at National Postal Forum

Honors DTMBOSS for Mail Innovation, Solutions, Support of Mailing Industry

NASHVILLE, TN — The U.S. Postal Service today recognized Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget Office of Support Services (DTMBOSS) headquartered in Lansing MI with its Mail Innovation Award for the company’s support of the success of mail and its commitment to a successful business relationship with the Postal Service.

The Mail Innovation Award, presented annually at NPF, recognizes Postal Service customers who have implemented innovative mailing solutions. Winning companies embrace new technologies and implement best practices to improve efficiency and productivity in mail operations. They provide customers with a mail product that delivers increased value, benefitting both customers and the mailing industry.

DTMBOSS was one of 12 companies recognized this year by the Postal Service at the National Postal Forum (NPF), which for more than 40 years has been recognized as the premier educational trade show for the mailing industry. The forum is being held this week in Nashville, TN.

“We are pleased to recognize and honor Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget Office of Support Services for its innovation, creativity and leadership,” said Jakki Krage-Strakko, vice president of the Great Lakes Area, who nominated Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget Office of Support Services for the award. “By working closely with the Postal Service to develop strategic business solutions, Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget Office of Support Services has produced winning results, which supports the mailing industry.”

The State of Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget Office of Support Services (DTMBOSS) was recognized at the National Postal Forum (NPF), for Automating a certified-mail project saves time and money.

The treasury staff had a large amount of mail that needed to go out in a short period of time. (DTMBOSS)’s printing and mailing divisions worked together to develop a mailer that could be processed and tracked using automated equipment. The product had its own unique Mailer ID, administrator and barcode constructs that allowed Treasury to receive a secure bulk proof-of-delivery file that could be downloaded for easy access and indefinite storage. The automated processes also enabled the treasury department to meet all IRS requirements, and allowed for quality testing, workflow efficiencies and secure data management. This certified mail project yielded $1.4 million in savings for the state’s Department of Treasury
