DETROIT, MI — The Postal Service honored Rural Letter Carrier Myron Harland for demonstrating extraordinary community service rescuing a customer while on his route in Croswell, MI.

Harland was delivering packages to a home when he heard a crash. He looked through the window to see an elderly woman lying on the floor. Harland immediately went to a neighbor’s home for assistance and waited until the woman was resting comfortably before continuing on his route.

“When you take care of customers, and do little things that matter every day, it makes a big difference,” says Harland, a 44-year employee.

“The family said they truly appreciated the help,” says Postmaster Roxanne Jex, Croswell, MI. “Myron is well liked by all his customers. I only get compliments on his dedication and service.”

Harland received a Hero Letter of Recognition from Postmaster General Megan Brennan and a Hero plaque from Detroit District Manager Lee Thompson.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
