Nearby Waldo Station Includes Expanded Retail Lobby and 24/7 PO Box Access

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — At the close of business on Sat., Dec. 4, the Kansas City, Missouri Post Office’s Wornall Station, located at 7964 Wornall Rd., will relocate its retail operations and more than 400 Post Office boxes to the newly renovated Waldo Station at 119 West Gregory Blvd.

“We’re pleased to offer enhanced retail services to our customers and Post Office box holders at the Waldo Post Office beginning Monday, December 6,” said Kansas City, MO Postmaster John Morgan. The Waldo Station is about a mile from the Wornall Station.

Local mail delivery won’t be affected by the move, and all PO box holders will keep their current box number and ZIP Code.

Effective Monday, Dec. 6, retail service hours at the Waldo Post Office Station will be:
8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.      Mon – Fri
8:30 a.m. – 12 noon  Saturday

The Waldo PO box section will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Automated Postal Center (APC), currently located at the Wornall Station, also will be moved to the Waldo Station. The Postal Service’s popular APCs provide easy access to postal products and services – similar to a bank ATM. Using a credit or debit card, the APC enables customers to:

  • Buy self-adhesive postage stamps
  • Weigh, calculate and purchase postage in any amount for items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Send items via Express Mail, Priority Mail, First-Class Mail, and Parcel Post services
  • Look up ZIP Codes and obtain USPS mailing information
  • Obtain Express Mail, Certified Mail, and Return Receipts
  • Purchase Delivery Confirmation service and obtain a receipt

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
