Michael Darling to be Sworn-In as Cape Girardeau, MO Postmaster

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO — Michael R. Darling will sworn-in as Cape Girardeau’s 32nd postmaster at an installation ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 5, at 1 p.m. at the Kent Library, located at 1 University Plaza, on the Campus of Southeast Missouri State University (across the street from the Copper Dome).

Mike is responsible for an annual budget of more than $19 million, and oversees the delivery of mail to more than 40,000 addresses in the Cape Girardeau area.

He began his Postal Service career in 1985 as distribution clerk in Costa Mesa, CA and moved into management in 1987. Prior to his appointment as Cape Girardeau postmaster, Mike served in a variety of USPS management positions, including as the Officer-in-Charge at the Springfield, MO Post Office.

Mike is a graduate of Westfield Academy and has completed the Postal Service’s EAS Leadership Program. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1981 to 1987.

Mike has been a Cape Girardeau home owner since 2004.
