KANSAS CITY, MO — The U.S. Postal Service and the Kansas City-based Mid-America District are proud to announce that Tara L. Jarrett will be officially installed as the new Postmaster in St. Joseph, MO. A brief ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at the St. Joseph Post Office on 201 S. 8th Street.
A 15-year USPS veteran, Jarrett began her postal career as a mail handler at the Kansas City, MO Processing & Distribution Center. She brings experience in delivery and customer service operations, having served as a Customer Service supervisor at the Atchison, KS Post Office, before being selected as Atchison Postmaster.
Jarrett is the 40th St. Joseph Postmaster – and first female to serve as Postmaster – since the Post Office was founded in 1840.
Jarrett also served as the Officer-in-Charge (acting Postmaster) in St. Joseph for three months beginning last August.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
