JACKSON, MS — Torrential rains and flooding caused water damage to the Shuqualak Post Office, 135 Pine Street, Shuqualak, MS 39361, requiring the temporary suspension of the Post Office.
Beginning August 26, a full service mobile retail van will be located across the street from the Post Office, at 134 Pine Street, Shuqualak, MS 39361, where P. O. Box customers with proper identification may pick up their mail.
The mobile retail van will provide all retail services normally provided at the Post Office, including selling stamps and mailing packages and letters. Hours of operation will remain the same: Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 11:30 am; 12:30pm - 3:30 pm and Saturday 8:00 am - 10:00 am.
Mail delivery to Shuqualak residential and business addresses will not be affected. Residential and business customers who receive a “Left Notice” form in their mailbox can pick up items at the Macon Post Office, 3022 Jefferson Street, Macon, MS, 39341, or schedule a redelivery on usps.com. Hours of operation at the Macon, MS, Post Office are: Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm; Thursday 8:30 am – 1:00 pm; and Saturday 9:00 am – 11:00 am.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
