SIDNEY — Is your day usually too busy to fit in a trip to the Post Office? You’re not alone, but help is available.
To provide access to postal products and services 24/7, the Sidney Post Office has installed a Self-Service Ship and Mail Center (SSSMC). The interactive kiosk enables customers with a credit or debit card to purchase stamps, and weigh and mail letters and packages 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“Self-Service Ship and Mail Centers provide easy access to postal products and services just as automated tellers provide easy access to banking services, but without the fees,” said Sidney Postmaster Brandi Lien.
Employees will help guide customers through the process of using the center, which operates much the same as an ATM.
SSSMCs do not accept cash, only debit or credit cards, to dispense stamps and postage in any amount for Express Mail, Priority Mail, First-Class Mail and Parcel Post services. They also provide mailing information, ZIP Code lookup, Certified and Insured Mail, Return Receipt, Delivery Confirmation and other services.
The SSSMC employs a touch screen and numeric keypad for customers to select products and services and receive postal information. A convenient parcel slot next to the center accepts packages up to 12 inches high by 14 inches deep by 20 inches wide.
“With the boom in business in our region, we know it can be difficult to get to the Post Office during regular hours,” said Lien. “We are now able to offer 24/7 access to our most popular services. I’m confident our customers will love that convenience.”
