THOMASVILLE – Thomasville letter carrier Ellen Reavis may have retired in January, but she had one more order of business to tend to today at her Post Office – receiving one of the highest honors in the land.

Reavis was inducted into the Million Mile Club, the highest honor given to a professional driver in the workplace by the National Safety Council, for drivers who drive for at least 30 years accident-free. Reavis is one of only six employees in the Greensboro District this year to receive this honor.

“Greensboro District is number one in the country in Total Service to our customers, and we already have the best Postal Service in the world,” said District Manager Russ Gardner, addressing Reavis and her former colleagues. “That makes all of you at Thomasville Post Office part of the best team in the world – and that makes you, Ms. Reavis, the best of the best. Congratulations on an outstanding achievement.”

Reavis is a resident of Midway and retired after 30 years of government service. According to the NSC, achieving Million Mile Club status is to professional driving as reaching the summit of Mt. Everest is to the sport of climbing.
