GREENSBORO, NC—Ronald L. White was recently appointed new Postmaster of Greensboro. White, a Triad area native and postal employee for 21 years, replaces Jim Tarter, who retired. A Postmaster Installation ceremony in his honor will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 11 am at the General Classroom Building, NC A&T University campus.
“”Our goal is to be a customer oriented business that provides quality service to the citizens of Greensboro that is second to none,” says White. “The Greensboro Post Office currently has one of the highest on-time percentages in the nation for overnight delivery at 99.23%, and we are very proud of that accomplishment.”
White began his postal career as a city letter carrier in his home town of High Point in 1988, where he later became a delivery supervisor. From there White had managerial and Postmaster assignments in Winston-Salem, Trinity and Kernersville, as well as positions as Delivery Analyst, Superintendent Postal Operations (High Point) and Manager, Operations Programs Support. His most recent position was as Senior Post Office Operations Manager, Area B, overseeing most of the largest Post Offices in the district, including Winston-Salem, Durham, Chapel Hill and Cary. Now a resident of Jamestown, he is married with four stepchildren and one grandchild.
At the Greensboro Main Post Office, located at 201 N. Murrow Blvd, White is responsible for five delivery stations and seven retail/finance stations, overseeing 550 employees. His stations cover 250 city and rural routes, delivering 2.5 million pieces of mail weekly to nearly 147,000 delivery points and 13,661 Post Office Boxes.
“In the face of these uncertain times our goal of providing outstanding service to our customers has not changed and will not be compromised,” said White. Service is our top priority and the reason we exist! We will continue to work diligently to improve service and operations on a daily basis to make Greensboro Post Office the premier office in the nation.”
