STATESVILLE, NC–To increase convenience and access to postal services, a new Contract Postal Unit with virtually all postal services is now open at Ace Hardware Store, 1867 E. Broad Street in Statesville. The hours of the postal unit are Monday – Friday 9 am – 6 pm and Saturday 9 am to 4 pm, and will be closed Sundays.

The unit will in effect replace the Contract Post Office at Cool Springs on 528 Mocksville Highway. That unit closed last week.

“The new postal unit will help to increase convenience and access to postal services for customers unable to travel to the Statesville Post Office,” said Larry Icenhour, Statesville Postmaster, who will oversee the CPU at Ace Hardware. “A full line of postal products and services are available at the new CPU including postage stamps, Express Mail® service, Priority Mail® service, special services, packaging products, and much more. We are very excited for the residents of Statesville.”

The Postal Service has re-engineered the entire Contract Unit Postal program to better answer the needs of postal customers nationwide. “The Postal Service is continuously tasked with finding smarter and more efficient ways to reach our customers,” said Icenhour. “Our CPUs, our online services at www.usps.com, and our stamps at retail locations and supermarkets throughout the state are allowing us to change the way we do business, to make us available to more people 24 hours a day.”

Besides the Statesville Post Office at 301 S. Oakland Avenue, Contract Post Office service is also available at Front Street, 205 W. Front Street.
