ENFIELD — The U.S. Postal Service and Enfield Post Office recently honored three of its letter carriers for exemplary performance in driver safety.

Enfield Postmaster Kenneth Whitaker presented National Safety Council Safe Driving Awards to rural letter carriers Ann Pyatte, a local resident recognized for driving 27 years in the Postal Service without a preventable motor vehicle accident; Arthur Neville, also an Enfield resident, for driving 23 years without an accident; and Lafayette Bunch, a Rocky Mount resident cited for 20 years of accident-free driving.

“One of the most difficult parts of the job as a mail carrier is to get through each day, and through all those miles of driving, focused on the task at hand, with not just the mail, but with traffic and other vehicles on the roads,” said Whitaker. “To have three such carriers is a true testament to their diligence, dedication, and personal commitment to safety. I am proud to be their Postmaster.”
