HAW RIVER, NC — James Constable was recently appointed new Postmaster of Haw River, and will have his official installation ceremony on Thursday, July 15, 6:30 pm at Haw River Civic Center, 110 Stone Street. Constable, a Burlington resident and a postal employee for 23 years, replaces Steven Covington, who recently retired.
Constable began his postal career in 1986 as a postal carrier in Burlington. Nearly eight years later he was promoted and began his managerial career as supervisor, customer services in Durham. He later served as supervisor in Randleman, and completed assignments as Officer-in-Charge at Post Offices in Semora, Randleman, Whitsett and Gibsonville, while also serving as a district operations support specialist during those years. He has a B.S. in Business Management from Guilford College and also serves as a senior member in the Civil Air Patrol, Burlington Composite Squadron.
“I come to this position during a very challenging period in the history of the U.S. Postal Service,” says Constable. “I intend to ensure the viability of our company by providing excellent customer service and adding value to all products and services for the town of Haw River.”
At Haw River Post Office, located at 105 Roxboro Road, Constable is responsible for nine employees and four routes that deliver to nearly 2300 delivery points and 824 Post Office Boxes. The Post Office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 - 11 am and 12 noon - 4:30 pm and Saturdays 8:30 – 11:30 am.
Constable, a native of Alamance County, is married to his wife of 23 years, Carolyn, and they have six children. “Whether connecting with our business customers in showcasing our products, services and website, or adding services like passport services and wired financial transactions, I want us to meet the growing demands of the diverse community of Haw River,” he says. “I hope to develop a lasting relationship with the people of this community for years to come.”
The Postmaster installation ceremony is free and open to the public.
