Eden resident Hairston named new Eden Postmaster

EDEN, NC — Jerome Hairston was recently appointed new Postmaster of Eden. Hairston, a local resident and postal employee for 21 years, replaces Robert Hall, who was promoted last year.

Hairston began his career as a distribution clerk at the Greensboro Bulk Mail Center in 1988 before getting promoted to supervisor in that facility several years later. From there he served as supervisor, customer services, Eden before a promotion to Postmaster, Walnut Cove. He was assigned to Eden as Officer-in-Charge immediately before his promotion to Postmaster.

“I want to show our community that we provide a dependable and reliable service consistently,” said Hairston. “We recently undertook some route adjustments that will improve deliveries and service to our customers. It’s a blessing to be in this position and I look forward to what the future holds.”

At the Eden Post Office, located at 332 N. Pierce Street, Hairston is responsible for 32 employees and 19 routes that deliver to more than 14,000 delivery points and 2000 Post Office Boxes. The Post Office is open Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and Saturday 9 am -12 noon.

Hairston is a native of Stoneville and is married with one daughter. “I plan to get more involved with the community and the businesses here, and help them grow as the company grows,” he says. “The citizens of Eden can expect our service and overall performance to improve. I’m excited to be here.”
