GREENSBORO— It’s a fairly rare occurrence when a Post Office is able to recognize one of its employees for driving 30 years of safe driving. It’s even rarer when more than one employee is honored this way from the same office, at the same time.

Imagine how unheard of it is for seven letter carriers from one office to be recognized with such a prestigious honor. That is exactly what happened at Greensboro Post Office when seven such employees were inducted into the National Safety Council’s Million Mile Club, an award bestowed upon all professional drivers in companies across America who drive at least 30 years or one million miles without getting into a preventable motor vehicle accident.

Clyde Alexander, Mike Caratello, Kim Hizer, Robert McCance, Jack Murphy, Porter Wright and Jim Yarborough, all Greensboro carriers, were so honored in two recent ceremonies at Main and Westside Stations attended by District Manager Russ Gardner, Postmaster Ronnie White and station managers Crystal Brown and Mike Chicosky.

“I tell everyone who listens to me that we have some of the finest letter carriers and employees in the country,” said Gardner. “It’s why we are continually the best in service. When you have a group like these carriers from Greensboro, who demonstrate such daily dedication and commitment to working and driving safely for their long careers, it truly reinforces my opinion. These employees represent the best of the best and are a credit to the U.S. Postal Service.”
