JAMESTOWN, NC — Long-time Jamestown resident Tori White can now add a new title to that description: Jamestown Postmaster.
White, a postal employee of 20+ years, was recently named new Postmaster of Jamestown. She replaces Darlene Williams, who recently accepted the position of Postmaster in Sanford.
White began her postal career in 1991 as a postal carrier in High Point. Before long, she began her ascent into the postal managerial ranks, handling numerous assignments such as account sales manager, postal systems coordinator, human resources associate, retail specialist, and Officer-in- Charge in two offices, including Jamestown in 2003. Her most recent position was Manager, Retail, where she gained much acclaim and recognition for overseeing all retail programs of the Greensboro District, including the opening of numerous Contract Postal Units across the state.
"The Postal Service is competing for the package business so I plan to work with local business customers to assist with their business solutions," says White. "Our customers see us as an organization that is responsive, friendly, knowledgeable, flexible and reliable. We will provide professional and courteous service, because it is my belief that strong connections with customers are at the heart of our long-term success."
At Jamestown Post Office, located at 203 E. Main Street, White is responsible for 20 employees and 12 routes that deliver more than 2.3 million pieces of mail annually to more than 6200 delivery points and 1155 Post Office Boxes. The Post Office is open Monday to Friday, 8 am – 5 pm and Saturdays 9 am – 12 noon.
White is a native of Greensboro, and is active at CrossPoint Church in her hometown. Her husband, Ron, is the Postmaster of Greensboro; they have four grown children and four grandchildren. "We have an excellent team of employees," she says, "it’s like a family here at the Jamestown Post Office. My plans are to be very involved in the community by staying in touch with what is going on."
