CARRBORO, NC — At a recent Customer Appreciation Day at Carrboro Post Office, Postmaster Teresa Long (left) saluted Women’s History Month by dedicating the commemorative Forever stamp featuring the late Texas Congresswoman Barbara Jordan. Long, standing with local resident and postal retiree Vernon Howard, spoke to attendees about Jordan, the first African-American woman elected to Congress from the south, and how she “dedicated her life to working for the benefit of others — and at the U.S. Postal Service, we are proud to share her legacy with all Americans through the issuance of her new commemorative Forever stamp.” The stamps are available now at Post Offices nationwide.
