Boyd Gardner named Bethel Postmaster

BETHEL, NC — Boyd Gardner was recently named Postmaster of Bethel. Gardner, a postal employee of 17 years, replaces former PM Becky Horton, who retired in 2009. Gardner has been serving that role in an acting capacity since she left.

Gardner began his postal career in 1995 as a part time clerk in Elm City Post Office. After numerous years as a clerk, he was named Postmaster of Hobgood in 2007 before serving as Officer-in-Charge in Bethel. A resident of Tarboro, Gardner is responsible for 3 employees and 1 carrier route that delivers mail to more than 460 delivery points and 850 Post Office Boxes. The office is open for retail business Monday-Friday 8 – 11:30 am, and 1 – 4:30 pm, while closing for lunch between 11:30 am – 1 pm.

“I am named to this position during a very challenging period in the history of the U.S. Postal Service,” says Gardner. “I intend to provide quality customer service and stability to the community, and will represent the government in the most professional manner possible.”

In Bethel, the Post Office is located at 115 East Street.
