ROPER, NC — Timothy O. Williams, formerly Postmaster of Hamilton, has officially been named Postmaster of Roper. Williams, a postal employee of 13 years, replaces Roy Hyman, who has served in an acting capacity in the same position for several years.

Williams began his postal career in 1998 as a clerk and sales/service associate in Lucama Post Office. He later served in similar positions in Goldsboro and Greenville before he was eventually promoted to Postmaster, Bell Arthur in April 2005. In October 2008 he was promoted to Postmaster, Hamilton, and held that position until moving to Roper this month.

“As the official Postmaster of Roper, I want to provide great service to the community and increase our revenues,” said Williams. “I recognize and respect the service and contributions Roy Hyman provided over the years and expect to maintain and, hopefully, exceed the high standards he exhibited.”

In Roper, the Post Office is located at 101 Highway 32 North, where Williams is responsible for more than 3400 pieces of mail daily being delivered to 440 Post Office Boxes. The office is open for retail business Monday-Friday 9 am – 12:45 pm and 2-4:45 pm.

Williams is a native and resident of Williamston, where he lives with his wife and teenage daughter. He is a proud member of Post 131 of the American Legion in Hamilton. His mother, Peggy Williams, retired earlier this year as Postmaster, Windsor, NC.
