WELDON, NC — Andrea B. Green, formerly the Postmaster of Wise for 15 years, was recently promoted as the new Postmaster of Weldon. Green, a postal employee of 28 years, replaces Jan “Buffi” Flagg, who retired this year.

Green began her postal career in 1985 as a city carrier in Warrenton. In 1989 she became a window clerk in that same office until 1995, when she became a full-time clerk in East Durham. The following year she served as Officer-in-Charge (acting postmaster) at Hollister Post Office, and later served a similar position at Macon PO. She was promoted to Postmaster, Wise in 1997.

“I am very happy to be here and plan to keep in touch with the community and with what is going on,” said Green. “It’s important for me to reflect on what my customers really want and give them what they really need. They can count on me to always have a sense of humor and a smile for all of them.”

In Weldon, the Post Office is located at 401 Washington Avenue, where Green is responsible for 5 employees and 624 Post Office Boxes. The office is open for retail business Monday-Friday 9 am – 1:30 pm and 2:30 – 4:30 pm, and Saturdays 9 am – 12 noon.

Green is a native of Warren County, where she grew up one of 27 children of the late John Henry and Hattie Dortch Burnette in Manson, NC. She is now a resident of Macon and is married to Pierre Green Sr. where they have two children and three grandchildren.

“I want to emphasize that service is our priority,” says Green. “The town will grow and I hope to grow with it and to provide excellent service.”
