CLEVELAND, NC – Terry Moore, a letter carrier and resident in Cleveland, recently joined the ranks of the prestigious Million Mile Club, the highest honor given to professional drivers in the workplace. Smith, a 30-year Postal Service veteran who delivers mail in the western part of Cleveland, was recognized for his ability to drive regularly for the agency for at least 30 years – which translates to at least one million miles – without incurring a preventable motor vehicle accident. The award is given by the National Safety Council. In the photo is (l-r) Casey Moore, daughter of Terry and a letter carrier in Woodleaf Post Office; Terry Moore; and wife Gail.
“He contributes this to working on his route with safety always in mind, but never so controlled that he can't enjoy his job,” said Donna Parker, Cleveland Postmaster. “Thank you Terry for your pleasant attitude and contributions to the Postal Service.”
According to the NSC, the status is to professional driving as reaching the peak of Mt. Everest is to the sport of climbing.
