SILER CITY, NC — Darin A. Shamberger was recently promoted as the official Postmaster of Siler City. Shamberger, a postal employee of more than 17 years, replaces David Albertson, who is now Postmaster of Randleman, NC. He is the first African-American Postmaster to serve this city.

Shamberger began his postal career in 1997 as a part-time letter carrier in Graham, and transferred to Asheboro in 2004 as a clerk. In December 2005 he was promoted to customer services supervisor in Asheboro, and served as Officer-in-Charge (Acting Postmaster) there at separate times in 2009, 2011 and 2012. After similar stints as OIC in Ramseur in 2011 and Pleasant Garden in 2012, he was promoted to Postmaster, Pleasant Garden in January 2013. He came to Siler City in April 2013 as OIC, the position he held until his recent appointment.

“As new Postmaster of Siler City, my goal is to work with business owners and help them grow their businesses through services we offer,” said Shamberger. “I plan to stay in touch with the community and assure them that Siler City Post Office will take care of their mailing needs. I will extend myself wherever possible to ensure customer satisfaction.”

In Siler City, the Post Office is located at 116 E. Raleigh Street, where Shamberger is responsible for 24 employees and 12 delivery routes, delivering nearly 290,000 pieces of mail annually to more than 9500 delivery points and 875 Post Office boxes. The office is open Monday to Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm, and Saturdays 9 am – 12 noon.

Shamberger, a resident of Ramseur, was reared in Robbins and Asheboro, and is married with three children. He serves as Associate Pastor at Christ Fellowship Ministries in Asheboro.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
