YADKINVILLE, NC – Yadkinville Letter Carrier Margaret Hutchens, a local resident, was recently honored for joining the ranks of the prestigious Million Mile Club. This is the highest honor for professional drivers in the workplace and is given by the National Safety Council. To gain entry into the club, one must have driven in the workplace for at least 30 years or one million miles without incurring a preventable motor vehicle accident.

Joining Hutchens for the ceremony was her daughter Amber Fulk, Yadkinville Postmaster Kimberly Foster, Post Office Operations Manager (POOM) Steve Hobbs, Acting Human Resources Manager Kesha Holifield, Safety Manager Cynthia Reaves and special guest U.S. Representative Virginia Foxx from the 5th congressional district. Foxx presented Hutchens with the plaque honoring her for the commitment and dedication exhibited by earning this award.

Hutchens’ postal journey was described by POOM Hobbs as “having taken two trips around the moon and back, going coast to coast 334 times, and having traveled around the world 40 times.”  Less than two percent of all carriers in Greensboro District are recognized for this achievement every year.

Hutchens is a 30 year letter carrier who delivers mail in the Country Club Road area, the Boonville end of NC HWY 601, and the Hamptonville side of Old US 421 HWY W. As she was pinned by Holifield, she stated, “You are truly the Brand, thank you for your dedication.”
