WILMINGTON, NC — This Sunday, December 21, local postal customers will have some help getting their last minute holiday cards and packages on their merry way.
“This is Our Season,” said Jacksonville Postmaster Jamie Thompson. “NFL isn’t the only game in town. It’s the playoffs for the Postal Service, and we’re giving our customers a little extra time on the clock to get those cards and packages in the mail.”
After last Monday’s busiest mailing day, local offices have continued to see a steady influx of customers sending greetings to family and friends, near and far. Still, some customers are making last minute purchases that need to get in the mail for delivery in time for Christmas.
Customers across the state have already been enjoying an added delivery day with the Postal Service’s recent announcement of seven-day delivery during the holidays.
Thompson says, “Adding Sunday retail hours is just another way the Postal Service is demonstrating its commitment to meeting the needs of our customers. We prepare all year long for this season, and our team is ready! We’re working around the clock to deliver for our customers.”
This Sunday, December 21, Jacksonville Main Post Office, located at 719 New Bridge, will offer full retail services from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
