What:

Gibsonville Letter Carrier Bobby Foster, a resident of Altamahaw, will be honored Tuesday as he joins the ranks of the prestigious Million Mile Club, the highest honor given to professional drivers in the workplace. To gain entry in the club, one must have driven in the workplace for at least 30 years or one million miles without incurring a preventable motor vehicle accident. The honor is given by the National Safety Council.

Foster will be honored by Gibsonville Postmaster Loretta Jackson and Manager, Post Office Operations Robert Hall.

When:

Tuesday, April 29, 2014 @ 8:30 am

Where:

Gibsonville Post Office, 221 E. Main Street, Gibsonville, NC

Background:

Less than two percent of all carriers in Greensboro District are recognized for this achievement every year. Foster is a 35+ year rural letter carrier who delivers mail in four counties – Guilford, Alamance, Rockingham and Caswell – on and around Route 61.

According to the NSC, the status is to professional driving as reaching the peak of Mt. Everest is to the sport of climbing.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
