Background: |
Less than two percent of all carriers in Greensboro District are recognized for this achievement every year. Coble is a 40 year rural letter carrier who delivers mail on and around East Greensboro Chapel Hill Road, Snow Camp Rd, and NC Highway 87 South. These are some of the busiest roads and highways in the Snow Camp community. His route expands from Alamance County to Chatham County. He has been on the same route since hired in April 1974. He has the longest route in Snow Camp. When Coble began, the rural carriers had to memorize each customer’s name instead of the street addresses. Mail came in addressed to the route with the person’s name on the mail instead with the physical address as it appears today. “Tim had to deliver mail in this format and to this day this is how he remembers his customers,” says his Postmaster, Debra Ford. “He is very professional with his customers and represents the USPS in a positive manner.” According to the NSC, the status is to professional driving as reaching the peak of Mt. Everest is to the sport of climbing. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. |
