ANGIER, NC — The Angier Post Office, located at 31 W. Dupree Street, will host a passport fair on Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public and no appointment is necessary.

“One of the most difficult parts of getting a passport is actually getting the appointment,” said Postmaster Rhonda Abernathy. “This is why we started offering passport fairs.”  To expedite processing, applicants are encouraged to complete applications before arriving at the post office.

Abernathy says, “Seven passport acceptance agents will be available in the lobby to process passports, passport cards, books and take photos. Last year our line went out but it moved quickly. The longest wait was about an hour and a half.”

Passport fees are as follows: Adults: Books - $110, Cards - $30; Children (under 16): Books - $80, Cards - $15. USPS Fees: $25 execution fee; photos (if needed) - $15.

Identification, including a copy, is required to prove U.S. citizenship, such as:

  • Previously issued, undamaged U.S. passport.
  • Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county, or state.
  • Consular report of birth abroad or birth certificate.
  • Naturalization certificate.
  • Certificate of citizenship.

In addition, one current ID is required, such as:

  • Naturalization certificate.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Current government ID (city, state or federal).
  • Current military ID (military and dependents).
