RANDLEMAN, NC — Randolph County residents have expanded options for mailing and shipping needs. A new Village Post Office (VPO) is now open in Randleman, located in the Mars Food Mart at 1114 South Main Street. “We are pleased to be able to provide a convenient alternative to customers in this area,” said Postmaster David Albertson. “This is a very busy location.”
The VPO opened on June 29, and provides a specific range of products and services including booklets of First-Class postage stamps, Flat-Rate prepaid Priority Mail products and limited mail acceptance.
Customers have access to these services seven days a week since Randleman VPO is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Postal Service announced the Village Post Office concept in July 2011 as a way to increase access to postal products and services in the more rural communities across the nation. VPOs are part of the Postal Service’s “Approved Postal Provider” network — retail outlets for postal products and services that include Contract Postal Units, Approved Shippers, stamps on consignment locations and Community Post Offices.
Approved Postal Providers are operated by third parties and complement the Postal Service’s own network by offering customers expanded retail access to postal products and services at convenient hours and locations.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
